(Humanitarian cultural project)
The Society of Ukrainian-Latvian Friendship and the Ambassador of Ukrainian Cuisine Yurii Kovryzhenko present the project
"Борщ Перемоги"/ "Borsch Peremohy" (ukr. Victory Borsch).
The purpose of this project is to
popularize Ukrainian cuisine and
culinary traditions of the Ukrainian
people. The target audience of the
project is from the Baltic countries, the
European Union and beyond - the
whole world.
The basis of the project and its
principal dish is traditional Ukrainian
borsch, which is prepared in field
kitchen by firewood. The project also
provides for acquaintance with the
culinary traditions of different regions
of Ukraine.
The project "Borsch Peremohy" was first presented at the annual Half Marathon in Roja, Latvia, on July 8, 2023 (Rojas pusmaratona festivāls 2023). More than 200 participating athletes and almost the same number of spectators were hosted with hot meals. The Society of Ukrainian-Latvian Friendship was gratituded by the City Council of Roja and the Self-Government of Tukums district.
Moreover, The Society of Ukrainian-Latvian Friendship presented the project "Borsch Peremohy" at the annual "Kauguru Holiday" (Kauguru Svetki 2023) in Jurmala, August 26, 2023
As part of the cultural programs carried out by the Society of Ukrainian-Latvian Friendship, Ukrainian borsch was served before the concert of Ukrainian singer Anastasia Vasilenko at the Mayori Cultural Center in Jurmala, September 16, 2023.
Within the framework of the project "Borsch Peremohy", donations are collected to finance another project of the Partnership of Society of Ukrainian-Latvian Friendship - "Let's Demine Ukraine together" which provides for the manufacture, purchase and delivery to Ukraine of "mine danger signs" for marking dangerous territories and demining equipment necessary for the work of Ukrainian sappers.
About the Project Participants
In 2014, a volunteer center was created in Jurmala, Latvia, to collect humanitarian aid for the affected residents of the occupied territories and soldiers of volunteer battalions, in particular, the Aydar Battalion. It was immediately after the annexation of Crimea and the beginning of the occupation of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions of Ukraine. For 8 years, volunteers continue to engage in humanitarian aid for Ukraine.
In 2019, the Charity organization "The Society of Ukrainian-Latvian Friendship" was created on the basis of the volunteer center. The founders of which were citizens of Ukraine and Latvia. The purpose of the organization's activities is not only to strengthen friendly social and cultural ties between the peoples of our countries, but also to fully support Ukraine in the fight against Russian aggression.
Yurii Kovryzhenko is a famous Ukrainian Chef, tv and radio presenter. The creator of Ukrainian restaurants in different parts of the world, whose molecular borsch was conquered by the Michelin Guide.As a real patriot of Ukraine, he joined the Borsch Peremohy project and became its culinary leader.
The project "Borsch Peremohy" provides not only tastings of Ukrainian borsch, but also culinary master classes of Ukrainian cuisine, charity dinners, participation in various cultural, humanitarian and political events related to Ukraine.
The project team invites all interested organizations and individuals
to cooperate.
